DoubleFile accurately analyses your files stored in a directory or drive and notifies you of duplicated files. This allows you to organise your files and remove unneeded duplicates, freeing up hard disk space, and reducing the time needed for file searches or backups. Unlike other software, DoubleFile analyses the digital content of the file and not just the file name or size. This means that duplicate files can be detected even if they have been renamed.
DoubleFile can be configured to identify a duplicate file using a number of user specified techniques such as the file content, name, size, and creation date. Using masks you can limit the files that are scanned, for example you can specify file extensions such as .dll or attributes such as hidden that should be skipped, ensuring that important system files are not altered.
When the scan has finished a list of all the duplicate files found is displayed, you can then manually or automatically select the files you wish to remove or move.
